How many here actually still believe that there is a God??
by annalice inafter being gone from the jw's for many years now , and having done extensive research on the history of god and the belief in him , i can't seem to find any logical way to have a belief in an invisble being up there ruling over us.
how many here still believe?
how many don't?.

Were you or someone you know sexually molested by a Jehovah's Witness ?
by flipper indue to the fact there are about 27,000 members of this religion that are known pedophiles, and the information about it is kept in a secret database file, i wonder how many lurking jw's as well as others are aware of the severity of this problem?
remember, it's 27,000 pedophiles that they know about.
what about the thousands that don't get caught?

There was a girl in our congregation who was molested by her older brother. I always thought there was something wrong from her behavior & interests. She had serious safety issues. She was an artist & her pictures had unusual themes.Just before I left I found out what had happened. Her brother was reproved, father removed as an elder, no reporting, no one knew what had happened except the elders, no counciling help for either child.Just told to not talk about it. There was also verbal abuse in the household & beatings of other children.
I quit meetings because of a pervert in the congregation that wouldn't stop touching me. He was a mystery person, rumors around about him maybe coming from a gay congregation in San Diego. His behavior was excused , told he was retarded & didn't know better. He touched a little girl at the KH book study. The family was moved to another study. Avioding him was like running the gauntlet, no one would do anything to stop him. Only weekly threats of an ass woopin by my husband kept him away from our children, but he couldn't resist bothering me.He was brought to every meeting and in service at least twice a week. Young brothers were assigned to drive him. Also to take to assemblies & conventions. Elders had others bent over backwards to get him around. No elder ever spoke to him, just excuses why we must put up with him. As it turned out I later found he was a study of one of the elders and was eventually baptized.

Something Big Is Happening To the WT Mag.
by metatron ini looked over the aug. 1 public watchtower and noticed the same changes i observed previously.. plainly put, it appears that they have simply run out of things to say and so are just filling up printing space!.
they devote 4 full pages to a bible reading schedule that could have been easily condensed into a couple sentences.
they have the same large graphics and typeset that eats up printing area.

Hi,
I was reading this thread this morning , when I got visitors! So I'm back now to share .
My husband spotted them at a neighbors earlier when leaving the house, there was no one he recognized in the group. He called to alert me!
The couple actually knocked ( a first in this area), my doorbell doesn't work. They were nervous and inexperienced. Read a scripture & offered the mag., I took it because of the discussion I was just reading, I've never seen a mag since the change to public & Koolaid. Promised to read it,to get it. They asked if they could return to answer any questions. I hesitated but said I guess. It's the July 1st edition.
Well my opinion is it's watered down skim milk, definately not offensive. As I read I'd come to the end of a page , but on turning found the article had ended with out saying anything. All the crazy cult stuff is missing, not at all like the Watchtowers I've read on line lately.
Now to prepare for the RV.Any ideas? Nice couple, mid 30's, husband has an unrecognized accent. They are black. I live on the outer edge of the commuter zone to a major eastern city. We have many people who move here to escape the city, there are homes at a resonable price. The congregations are mostly blacks who have moved here & a few disallusioned catholics. There is still growth in the area because of this. I may only have one visit, our home is known because my husband attended when we first moved here.My husband is faded, we are not openly apostate, still have a child in.

The Fourth Turning
by diamondiiz ina book by neil howe and william strauss on what i can tell is about human (cultural) behavior which their theory points to spring, summer fall and winter being the hardest time frame in human culture.
the seasons being some 20-25 years in length.
i just ordered the book so i haven't read it but seems quite interesting and i was wondering if anyone here read it and has any comments on it..

I have read it. I tell all my family & friends to read it. They have loads of reseach on how history cycles & repeats. There are 4 turnings in a cycle, and each generation is named as it begins adulthood. The most recent 4 are the Silent, Boomer, Gen13, & Millies. The book talks about the effects of each generation , how they are raised & as they reach adulthood & maturity how they influence society.
There are good arguments against end times claims that could be made by people wanting to capitalize on the crisis cycle we are entering, although their discussion of religion doesn't go into it.
Get a note book, there are many charts but keeping one with the :
names of the cyles ( 2nd turning - 1964-1984)
names of the generations ( prophet, born 1943-1960)
specific cyles names ( consciousness revolution )
specific generation names ( Boom Generation or Boomers)
all in one timeline will help.It can be confusing till you get that all down.
The book has helped me understand my pareants , myself & children.
Enjoy! BF

TO CLARIFY A COUPLE OF THINGS ABOUT MY PROJECT.....
by Mary infirst of all, i want to thank everyone for all the words of encouragment and compliments i've received regarding the project i put together.
not only will it (hopefully) help some family members to see that something's not right regarding many of the wt's doctrines, but it was therapeutic for me to do as well.
like many other ex-witnesses, i was emotionally devastated and extremely angry when i discovered that this religion was not "the truth" as was drilled into our brains from day one.

From my own experience , no there was nothing good. My marriage, family life, education, every thing about my life was impacted in a negative way while a witness. And NO it was not the demons attacking me.It was the slaving & sacrafice for the WT & the congregation"s unloving attentions.
I also never heard or met a single person who witnessed to their life being better. Brother & sisters would often tell their story of how & when they became a witness. Jump to telling all they did or privalages they had. Just that by being a witness they were better people, never a personal example from their lives.
I remember an elders public talk all about what an a$$ h*le he had been to his wife & kids. How he had fought her to not be a witness, then was converted. Still a total jerk to his wife and rotten father.
This is not what I have found in Christian testimony, christians are able to give a witness to their faith and examples of the fruits in their lives.

Jehovah's Witnesses & their cynical lust for negativity
by jambon1 infor me this is one of the most hideous things about the jw's.. it's like they are willing on the next world disaster.
they are gleeful if anyone that they know comes into some sort of trouble if they are not following 'bible standards'.
they simply aren't interested in anything good.

I stopped going in service because of the negative talk & comments .
I've ridden in limos on the way to funerals that were more cheerful & encouraging.
